Aestu: The Liquid Timer for ADHD & Neurodivergent Minds

Aestu

Have you ever stared at a timer and felt paralyzed by anxiety?

Or ignored it completely because the numbers didn’t feel “real”?

Natively designed for the entire Apple ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch), I created Aestu for myself and for all neurodivergent minds who, like me, battle “Time Blindness” every single day.

The problem isn’t you. It’s the design

If a classic “05:00… 04:59…” countdown puts pressure on you, it isn’t your fault.

Watching frantically changing digits creates unnecessary Cognitive Load.

Your brain wastes precious resources processing constant movement instead of using them for your primary task.

In Aestu, I applied Neuro-Aesthetics to eliminate this visual noise:

Don’t read time. Feel it

For those with ADHD, time is a feeling, not a sequence of numbers.

Aestu transforms the abstract concept of a “minute” into a colored fluid that communicates instantly with your nervous system:

Zero is not a wall (Stop RSD)

The thing I hated most about common timers?

That sense of “failure” when the alarm goes off and you haven’t finished.

For those who suffer from RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria), that signal is perceived as a negative judgment.

In Aestu, zero is a fluid transition.

When you run out of time, the timer enters Overtime mode and counts forward (e.g., +02:30).

Task Memory: Win the resistance to starting

Have you ever put off a task just because the idea of setting everything up again felt exhausting?

This is called Executive Dysfunction.

That’s why I designed Aestu to remember your last session: if you set a 10-minute timer for a specific task, the app will keep that time and name ready for you when you restart.

Train your Interoception

Many neurodivergent people suffer from poor Interoception: the difficulty in perceiving internal signals like tiredness until they are exhausted.

At the end of a session, Aestu asks: “How do you feel?”

Cooldown: Protect your Working Memory

Science shows that after 15-20 minutes of interruption, Working Memory empties itself of the context of the previous work.

Resuming then becomes a Herculean task.

Aestu helps you stay in the “safe zone”:

Technology that respects your mind

Every technical choice in Aestu was guided by the need to reduce anxiety and support your cognitive processes:

Reclaim your time

Aestu is a handcrafted tool.

No ads, no data sold, no predatory subscriptions.

Just a new way to experience time, respecting how your brain actually works.
